A twiglet is a short phrase. Or a word. Its aim is to “prompt” a flow. A thought. A memory. If something comes to mind, write. A polished piece isn’t the goal; creativity is. Leave a link, if you’d like your work read, but comments should not be expected. Twiglets are posted on Tuesdays.
I watched my husband and a friend launch the friend’s boat last night! They had lots of fun with the mast. I got a text this morning to say that the Amazon 11 is safely moored. My response to this prompt isn’t about that at all, though I like the synchronicity. https://fmmewritespoems.wordpress.com/mast-and-sail-twiglet-for-mish
Summer’s been grand! Played with grandchildren in San Diego, visited Mum and cousins and aunties in Seattle, came in second today in the Great British Chef’s cooking competition, and I’m taking a creative writing course at Univ of Iowa which is quite inspiring, if not a time-killer. And now I’m off to read your Twiggie!
You say staysail and I say go sail –
flaunt the genoa and mizzen
until we’re drunken dizzy
under moonrakers and skysails –
jib jabber of t’gallants
bowing to royals,
bending the shrouds and sheets
to our will, where we will
LOL. I love to sail, but has mostly just been from my armchair. When I was a boy I dreamed of sailing on a tall ship, a life of adventure before the mast. I read every sailing adventure book I could.
[…] A twiglet for Mish – a first go at a poem inspired by Mish’s prompting phrase. It’s all about inspiration . […]
