Twiglet #207

an emotional ape

A twiglet’s aim is to “prompt” a thought. If something comes to mind, write. A polished piece isn’t the goal; creativity is. Leave a link, if you’d like your work read, but comments should not be expected.

  1. Ode to Prozac

    An abyss on either side
    falling into despair
    tumbling into giddy
    tears for no reason
    anger on a whim…

    Walking on a balance beam
    with no vertigo to pull
    one way or the other
    an anodyne of peace
    or a cop out
    I don’t care

        1. I am so glad, Debi. I have a dear friend whose breast cancer treatment left her with severe depression. The phrase “breathing through mud” was one of her ways of explaining to me what she felt like. Medication helps her a great deal. It’s a wonder to see.

    i came home
    to find her
    doing my ironing

    she said she knew
no one had ever done anything for me
    she felt sorry for me

    i still remember
    that act of kindness
    sadly
    i cannot remember another
    since
