I’m frying an egg
at close range,
stove, griddle, and spatula fired
point-blank at this one-eyed-jack
staring back from the pan.
My vision blood-shot tabasco
this early in the morning,
the sun a bull’s-eye
pawing the horizon, and
I’m already out of ammo.
