A twiglet’s aim is to “prompt” a thought. If something comes to mind, write. A polished piece isn’t the goal; creativity is. Leave a link, if you’d like your work read, but comments should not be expected.

Give Ear
as the dawning light breaks
in glorious colors
an explosion of red
a hiss apricot
a jingle of yellow
then little by little
it fades to a whisper
it seems, then I grasp
the heavens were silent –
it was all in my head.

Debi… this reminds me of that law that when “We all have blind spots in our vision, but we don’t notice them because our brains fill the gaps with made-up information. … The blind spot is caused by a patch at the back of each eye where there are no light-sensitive cells, just a gap where neurons exit the eye on their way to the brain.”
I guess we can imagine hearing things too.
How often have we held a sea shell up to our ears to hear the roaring ocean (though it is really our own heart beat in our ear that we hear?

All that is really interesting, Jules. I didn’t know that about the sea shell.

The sea shell acts like a reverse megaphone. Or maybe you do hear …”
The most likely explanation for the wave-like noise is ambient noise from around you. The seashell that you are holding just slightly above your ear captures this noise, which resonates inside the shell. The size and shape of the shell therefore has some effect on the sound you hear.”
Waves of your blood flowing can sound like the ocean. That’s what I was told once, maybe there is some truth to it, maybe not?

Long as I can put it to my ear and hear the ocean I will take any explanation. : )
