A twiglet is a short phrase. Or a word. Its aim is to “prompt” a flow. A thought. A memory. If something comes to mind, write. A polished piece isn’t the goal; creativity is. Leave a link, if you’d like your work read, but comments should not be expected. Twiglets are posted on Tuesdays.
Mama said.
Mama said, again. Mama said more.
I said.
Mama said.
I said.
Mama said more, loudly.
I said.
Mama said more loudly: Don’t
talk back to me
I said: But
Mama said, said, said.
But you didn’t understand,
I said.
And things accelerated from there.
I genuinely thought that if I could make her understand me it would be like Oh, that’s what you meant, why didn’t you say that in the first place. I was still trying for clarification whil she was stripping leaves off the switch.

OK, not my best day navigating comments, LOL! Yours is great too: “A wheel of wind.” and the last lines are powerful.

While I think American Sentences are supposed to be individuals… I put ’em together. Is that something new? Maybe.

My mum would’ve cut that short at the 4th line. She had a vicious metal slotted spoon that never missed its target.

I can now. But I do get a little nervous when asked for explanations.

My dad always told me, never explain anything that is obvious. He hated that Mum thought my sister and I were baseballs. God, they’d argue about that.
